Employment Resource Centre (ERC) is a not-for-profit community-based organization with over 25 years of providing high-quality employment services to the Ottawa and Russell county communities. ERC is a service of La Cité.

This program of Ontario Employment is funded by the Government of Ontario. We deliver Employment Ontario’s Employment Services within the Ontario College system. As part of this network, our goal is your goal

SUPPORT FOR INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES

Counselling and Family Service Ottawa (CFS Ottawa) is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to helping people through some of life’s biggest challenges. Their experience in the community and collaboration with other organizations has allowed them to effectively serve individuals and families for over 75 years.

CFSO  offers, at its head office and in community resource centers in the Eastern part of the city, a range of services and programs to help clients of both official languages who reside in the Ottawa area. Some of these services are offered within the context of programs developed specifically to respond to complex issues. In order to make their services as accessible as possible, CFS Ottawa will arrange for and cover the cost of interpretation services. All of their sites are accessible to people with reduced mobility.

Family Services Ottawa offers a wide range of counselling, educational workshops and support programs for everyone in our community.

Jewish Family Services of Ottawa (JFS) is a full-service, non-sectarian agency serving residents of the greater Ottawa area – located at 2255 Carling Avenue, Suite 300. They offer more than 65 programs and services to children, youth, adults and seniors, be they individuals, couples, families or groups.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

211 is a helpline that easily connects people to the social services, programs and community supports they need.

They are at the Orléans-Cumberland Community Resource Centre (OCCRC) every Monday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. for in-person appointments and follow all Covid-19 health protocols. We also offer phone or ZOOM consultations Monday to Friday during business hours. Our consultations are free of charge.

The ODB Program provides prescription drug coverage for individuals who turn 65 years old. An individual may be eligible for this program before age 65, provided they qualify.

The Snowsuit Fund is an Ottawa-based charity that raises funds for the purchase and distribution of new, quality-made snowsuits to needy children, 15 years and under, in our community.

HEALTH

211 is a helpline that easily connects people to the social services, programs and community supports they need.

The Canadian Mental Health Association, Ottawa Branch (CMHA Ottawa), is an independent, community-based non-profit organization that provides services for eligible individuals in the Ottawa area with severe and persistent mental illness and/or substance use disorder, many of whom are experiencing chronic homelessness or are vulnerably housed. CMHA Ottawa is dedicated to promoting good mental health, developing and implementing sustainable support systems and services, and encouraging public action to strengthen community mental health services and related policies and legislation.

The Champlainhealthline.ca is an innovative web portal that puts accurate and up-to-date information about health and community services at the fingertips of consumers and health and social services providers across the Champlain region of Ontario. The Champlainhealthline.ca provides easy access to a reliable source of data, and empowers consumers to find the services they need close to home.

The Community Diabetes Education Program of Ottawa program can help support adults with type 2 diabetes or prediabetes. Their team allows people to manage this chronic disease, live healthy lives, and avoid complications.

The Diabetes Central Ottawa – Intake & Referral program is your one access point to community education and support in Ottawa and Kemptville if you are 18 years of age or older and living with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It is possible to live well with diabetes through understanding and managing your condition.

Healthy Smiles Ontario is a government-funded dental program that provides free preventive, routine, and emergency dental services for children and youth 17 years old and under from low-income households.

The program includes regular visits to a licensed dental provider and covers the costs of treatment including:

  • check-ups
  • cleaning
  • fillings (for a cavity)
  • x-rays
  • scaling
  • tooth extraction
  • urgent or emergency dental care (including treatment of a child’s toothache or tooth pain)

Cosmetic dentistry, including teeth whitening and braces, are not covered by the program.

The OCCRC is a naloxone distribution site:

  • Naloxone is a medication that can temporarily reverse the effects of an opioid overdoes;
  • You can come to the Centre to get a nasal kit (max 2 kits per visit);
  • No ID, name or contact information required to receive a kit;
  • A quick information session with an Intake Woker is required before receiving the kit;

The OPH Sexual Health Clinic  are offering appointments for the following: 

  • HIV Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (HIV PEP)
  • Emergency Contraception (Ella/Plan B/IUD)
  • Contraception, including intrauterine devices (IUDs) and low-cost options
  • Persons diagnosed with an STBBI, including chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HIV, and/or Monkeypox
  • Sexual partners of persons diagnosed with an STBBI including chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HIV, and/or Monkeypox
  • STBBI testing for those who have symptoms, and are members of the following groups:
    • Indigenous communities
    • African, Caribbean, and Black communities
    • LGBTQ+, including gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men
    • Persons engaging in sex work
    • People who use drugs
 

The SFOA‘s primary mission is to meet the needs of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families to promote their interests.

HOUSING SUPPORT

Action Housing is a francophone organization located in the Ottawa community of Vanier. Since 1989, Action Housing has been offering bilingual services pertaining to housing loss and homelessness prevention in Ottawa, in partnership with Community Health and Resources Centres, and many other organizations serving the community.

OCH provides approximately 15,000 homes to about 32,000 tenants, including seniors, parents, children, couples, singles and persons with special needs, within many communities across the City of Ottawa. They house a diverse population of varying languages, ethnicity and cultures. They are also the largest social housing provider in Ottawa and manage two-thirds of the City’s social housing portfolio. OCH is the second-largest housing provider in Ontario.

LEGAL SUPPORT

Since 1974, CLEO (Community Legal Education Ontario / Éducation juridique communautaire Ontario) has developed clear, accurate, and practical legal rights education and information to help people understand and exercise their legal rights. Their work focuses on providing information to people who face barriers to accessing the justice system, including income, disability, literacy, and language. As a community legal clinic and part of Ontario’s legal aid system, they work in partnership with other legal clinics and community organizations across the province.

Connecting Ottawa is a project funded by the Law Foundation of Ontario to improve access to justice for linguistic minorities and those who face communication barriers in Ottawa. They work closely with a partnership network of over 50 organizations to educate and help front-line workers provide legal information and referrals to their clients.

SUPPORT FOR MEN

Kind Space is committed to providing Ottawa – located on unceded Algonquin territory, accessible resources, events, and social and educational programming to celebrate and support people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions.

MANifest Change is a project of the Ottawa Coalition to End Violence Against Women that involves men and boys in preventing gender-based violence. Our work is informed by OCTEVAW’s member agencies. MANifest Change relies on the knowledge of frontline workers in women’s shelters, sexual assault support centres, settlement agencies, community health centres, hospitals, and community-based programs to end violence against women.

Man Up is a global campaign to activate youth to stop violence against women and girls.

Men & Healing are one of the world’s leading clinics working in a male-centred approach to psychology and therapy. Their 20-plus years of experience and expertise in the field is well known. Their models of services have been taught internationally, the research outcomes for our trauma recovery services have been deemed clinically effective, and thousands of men have benefitted from our programs over the years.

Ottawa Victim Services (OVS) provides emotional support, practical assistance, referrals and advocacy to individuals who have been victimized as a result of a crime or tragic circumstance without judgment in order to lessen the impact of victimization. OVS is a community-based agency committed to treating individuals with courtesy, compassion and with respect for their dignity, privacy and diversity.

The Somerset West Community Health Centre – Anonymous HIV Testing is for anyone 14 years of age or older at risk of contracting, or believes they may have contracted, HIV/AIDS.

The Men’s D.E.N. is a depression education network for men and their loved ones.

White Ribbon is the world’s largest movement of men and boys working to end gender-based violence, promote gender equity, healthy relationships and a new vision of masculinity.

SUPPORT FOR SENIORS

The Eastern Ottawa Resource Centre (EORC) is a non-profit organization offering social and community services to older adults and adults with physical disabilities residing in Blackburn Hamlet, Beacon Hill, Carlsbad Springs, Gloucester South, Orleans, Cumberland, Navan, Vars, and Sarsfield.

The EORC is committed to supporting older adults and adults with a physical disability to live independent, active, and meaningful lives in their community. Their goal is to help individuals stay in their own homes as long as they so choose by connecting clients with the care and help they need.

The Home and Community Care Support Services – Champlain are there to help Ontario’s 14 Home and Community Care Support Services organizations coordinate in-home and community-based care for thousands of patients across the province every day. 

They assess patient care needs and deliver in-home and community-based services to support your health and well-being. They also provide access and referrals to other community services and manage Ontario’s long-term care home placement process. 

They collaborate with primary care providers, hospitals, Ontario Health Teams and many other health system partners to support high-quality, integrated care planning and delivery.

Since 1979, the Mouvement d’implication francophone d’Orléans (MIFO) has been highlighting francophone culture and promoting cultural expression in the community of Orléans and its surroundings. MIFO is a multidisciplinary center that offers various programs and services in French in the artistic, cultural and community fields. MIFO is also the main presenter of francophone performances at the Shenkman Arts Centre.

The Rendez-vous des aînés francophones d’Ottawa (RAFO) is a non-profit activity, entertainment and learning center for francophone and francophile retirees aged 50 and over in the Ottawa area. By offering diversified and targeted social, cultural, recreational and educational programming, the RAFO fulfills its mission to ensure the development of its members and the improvement of the quality of life of seniors in a warm atmosphere where smiles and joy of living are the norm.

SUPPORT FOR WOMEN

CALACS francophone d’Ottawa is a feminist organization managed and operated by and for women. In its advocacy for social justice, it denounces sexual assault and fights for women’s equality and rights. It offers a multitude of services to women survivors and is actively involved in prevention and awareness in the community.

The Centre espoir Sophie (CeS)  team offers a safe and supportive environment that allows women to break their isolation, share their experiences, obtain information and support at different levels to face barriers and promote autonomy and well-being.

The EORC’s  Programs Against Violence offers services to women and children whose lives have been affected by gender based violence. This program is available to women and children residing in Ottawa and Renfrew County and is free, bilingual and confidential.

Fem’aide is a provincial telephone helpline for Francophone women dealing with violence and has benefited the French Community in Ontario since 2006. This initiative, funded by the Ministry of Community and Social Services, allows access to French language services by women throughout the province, in their own regions, by dialling a single phone number from anywhere in Ontario.

Interval House of Ottawa (IHO) provides safe shelter and support, intervention and prevention services, and advocacy to break the cycle of violence. They work from an intersectional, feminist, and anti-oppressive approach to provide services for cis and trans women, two-spirit, non-binary and gender-diverse people alongside their dependents and pets. They lead the way in building a community committed to healthy and respectful relationships, free from all violence and abuse.

Maison d’amitié is a not-for-profit organization that brings refuge to women victim of violence and their children. Founded in 1976, it is the only shelter within the capital region to offer a wide range of French VAW (Violence against Women) services to a multicultural clientele. Maison d’amitié is a safe, friendly and accessible place where women can be listened to and supported throughout their journey.
