The Orl\u00e9ans-Cumberland Community Resource Centre is pleased to host FoodWise<\/strong>, a workshop presented by Foodsharing Ottawa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This interactive session will explore practical strategies to help participants reduce food waste, save money, and make the most of the food they buy. Topics include understanding food labels, extending food shelf life through proper storage and freezing, creating meals with ingredients already on hand, and learning about local initiatives that support food sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Employment and Social Services is pleased to share details about the Rural Outreach Pilot program<\/strong>, which will be delivered from September to December 2026<\/strong>. This pilot is designed to improve access and provide in-person support to rural clients who may face barriers attending the ESS Ontario Works east office location at 2339 Ogilvie Rd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An Ontario Works Case Worker will be available 3 days a week at designated rural sites where ongoing clients can obtain in-person support relating to: updating their OW file, assessing for additional benefits, and referring to community programs and services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In-person support will be available from 9:00 AM to 4:00 pm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Need a family doctor or nurse practitioner? <\/strong>Your new family health care provider might be just a phone call away. Health Care Connect Coordinators identify doctors and nurse practitioners in your community who are accepting patients and link them with people who are looking for a health care provider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To begin, all you have to do is register at 1-800-445-1822 or at www.ontario.ca\/healthcareconnect<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We currently have an opening for an existing role for an experienced bilingual Community Development Coordinator. In this position, you will work alongside residents, community groups, partners, and local leaders to strengthen community well-being across Orl\u00e9ans-Cumberland and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drawing on your knowledge of community development and social justice principles, you will identify emerging community needs, build partnerships and coalitions, facilitate community engagement initiatives, and support collective action on issues that affect quality of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Programming at our Main Location (240 Centrum Blvd.) will remain the same, and we are pleased to add an afternoon Playgroup on Wednesdays from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are excited to announce that, starting July 7<\/strong>, we will offer programming in three parks this summer. These outdoor playgroups will replace our playgroups at the Cumberland, Navan, and Fran\u00e7ois-Dupuis sites, which will be closed for the summer.  Please note that programming at these locations will resume in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our park Playgroups will take place rain or shine<\/strong>, but will be cancelled in the event of thunderstorms or when temperatures reach 30\u00b0C or higher with the humidex<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lastly, we are pleased to welcome Julia as our Family Resource Worker Assistant for the summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
