| | SERVICES TAILORED TO THE CANADIAN FORCES COMMUNITY | | | SATURDAY TIME AWAY
When was the last time you had an afternoon or evening to yourself or with your spouse? This respite care program is tailored for all military parents seeking adult time or for spouses who need this extra support service during deployments. We'll provide fun and recreational activities for children while parents look after themselves for a few hours. You provide the children with food and clothing; we'll provide a space and activities for them.
This program is offered twice a month in the Early Years Centre at the Orléans-Cumberland Community Resource Centre. Space is limited and registration must be made one week in advance. To know more about this program or to register, visit the MFRC-NCR website or contact Hélène Vlasblom at (613) 371-0554 or vlasblom.mfrc@yahoo.ca.

Perhaps you have been in Ottawa for some time now and have been wanting to meet and share with others who are living the military lifestyle. Either way this may just be the group for you. You are welcome to join us for coffee, tea, sharing and laughter on alternate Tuesday evenings from September 27 to December 6, 2011 from 7-9 p.m. in Rm 213 at the offices of our community partner, the Orléans-Cumberland Community Resource Centre, located at 240 Centrum Blvd. – Unit 105, Orléans.
There truly is “no life like it” but it sometimes takes other military families to understand its unique challenges. Please contact Pauline Racicot at 613-998-4885 to express your interest in attending this group. If you live in other areas of the NCR and would like to be part of a similar group please do not hesitate to call and express your interest.

SECOND LANGUAGE TRAINING
The MFRC provides Second Language Training (SLT) to civilian CF family members in order to provide them with a working knowledge of their second language. The courses concentrate on oral communication. The curriculum is based on the Canadian Forces second language training although it has been modified for civilians. A $50 deposit is required but will be reimbursed to civilian CF family members only if they attend 85% of the classes. Students who are serving military members will not be reimbursed. Reimbursement will not be given after the first class or if the participant fails to attend 85% of the classes or cancels. Changing to another class level or location after classes begin is dependent on availability of space. The fee for retired military members and the general public is $100, however we are unable to reimburse their fee. Families of CF personnel can receive a reimbursement of 50% of their childcare expenses. An original receipt including the hours and wages paid is required. Reimbursement must be requested by the end of a semester.
* Classes require a minimum of five participants to a maximum of ten with priority being given to civilian CF family members, however vacant positions may be offered to CF personnel and/or non-CF family participants in order to reach minimum participation levels.
